Meet Head Coach Jordan Peitzman

Experienced Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Leading Every Class at Precision Submission Grappling

At Precision Submission Grappling, all classes are led by well-known and highly respected Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, Jordan Peitzman. Peitzman is also the founder of the Midwest’s leading Jiu Jitsu tournament, Sub Spectrum.

For over a decade, Jordan has been at the forefront of the Des Moines Jiu Jitsu community as a practitioner, coach, competitor, and promoter of the grappling arts.

While building Sub Spectrum from the ground up, Peitzman has worked diligently to grow and promote the sport of Jiu Jitsu. His efforts have garnered widespread admiration, cementing his place in the Jiu Jitsu culture of the Midwest, particularly in Iowa and Des Moines.

Along the way, he has witnessed the evolution of Jiu Jitsu in a way that few others have, developing a deep understanding of the most effective grappling techniques and strategies. He has designed and led thousands of practices, witnessed countless competitive matches, and competed in over 300 matches, giving him an exceptional level of coaching expertise. Jordan has a unique ability to break down the complex movements and behaviors found in the grappling environment, translating them into clear, easy-to-understand tasks and focuses that guide even his youngest students to rapid success.

Jordan specializes in No-Gi Jiu Jitsu instruction and provides a unique learning environment where students have the freedom to explore the effects of their movements. His students engage in task-based training that reinforces the function of their behaviors, shaping them into adaptable learners capable of complex problem-solving in real time. Rather than asking his students to memorize and replicate predetermined movement patterns, he employs a constraints-led approach that encourages them to explore new movement solutions.

Peitzman’s passion for the grappling arts ignited through his love for pro wrestling, the UFC, and high school wrestling experience. He started training martial arts in 2013 and immediately fell in love with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Prior to opening Precision Submission Grappling, Jordan led programs at No Coast Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for nine years, where he led numerous athletes to success both on and off the mats.
